The Grandview Consulting Group Announces New 12,000-Square-Foot Youth Community Center in Mount Vernon, New York

The community center will be leased by the City of Mount Vernon

(New York, NY, December 30, 2024): The Grandview Consulting Group (“Grandview Group”), under the direction of Steven Horton, has announced a new mixed-use complex by the Metro North Mount Vernon West station, that includes a 12,00-square-foot community center designated for area youth called Opal115.

The new development is being developed through a joint venture partnership with the NRP Group of Cleveland, Ohio and Forward Thinkers Development of White Plains, New York. “Of the many positive attributes of the development; the construction of an environmentally sustainable, beautiful building, the introduction of the first retail uses in the neighborhood and the improvements to the city’s infrastructure, it is the new community center that sets the project apart.  The community center will be the new home of the Mt. Vernon Youth Bureau and their leadership team has an unmatched track record of innovative and effective programing geared toward positive outcomes for young people.  The center will feature ample space for educational and recreational programs all designed to prepare young people for the new and emerging technologies and workplace,” says Steven Horton, President of Grandview Group.

Mr. Horton has over 40 years of experience in community service, including activism, elected office, neighborhood stabilization, economic development, and empowerment in communities of color in southern Westchester New York and West Africa.

To offer development, consulting, and management services to both market-rate residential developers and the affordable housing sector, Steven founded the Grandview Group in 2013. The Grandview Group has historically provided services for affordable housing in transit-oriented development, to faith-based institutions and in the use of green energy technologies.

“The development team has been intentional from the very beginning about being a catalyst for smart growth and economic expansion in the neighborhood and to promote the city’s prime location and easy access to New York City and northern Westchester,” Horton said.

Grandview’s project, Opal115 is scheduled for completion in 2027.
